kolkata: the trinamul congress has decided to convene a meeting of chief whips of all nda allies to discuss the of deletion of the names lakhs of voters from the electoral rolls in west bengal."we have decided to convene a meeting of chief whips, including bjp chief whip vijay kumar malhotra. the meeting will be called at the end of february so that we can raise the matter during the budget session of parliament," said trinamul chief whip in lok sabha sudip bandyopadhay in kolkata on wednesday. the draft electoral roll released by state election commissioner sabyasachi sen on february 4 had 6.9 million names deleted from the last rolls. "we did not prepare the list. democracy has been butchered in west bengal," bandyopadhyay said. trinamul supremo mamata banerjee had demanded a commission of inquiry over the unusually large number of deletion. bandyopadhyay was also critical of chief minister buddhadeb bhattachrjee's remark that he has been misquoted by the media on the madrassah issue. "the chief minister is not telling the truth. he is backtracking under pressure from his party," bandyopadhyay said. according to the trinamul chief whip in lok sabha, bhattacharjee had gone on record in both domak and siliguri, saying that anti-national activities were being organised from 130 unregistered madrassahs. "now that he is backtracking from his earlier statement, the chief minister should send a report to union home minister l.k. advani, saying that all is well in west bengal," bandyopadhyay said.
